I read an article talking about how internet firms demonstrate a fear of the middle east. “The Middle East represents a vast, largely untapped market for Internet businesses across an audience tailor-made for maximizing online revenues, according to industry experts”. Im not sure why they don’t tap into. There are tons of people living there and they would be happy to get invloved with the firms. Maybe they are affraid of inciting anger in the people who hate America. Idk. do you?
Fear?
How to use HTML
I came across a site that is very good at showing people how to use and understand HTML codes. They go throgh step by step explaining what everything is and how you can use the tags the correct way. This is a good site for anyone looking to create a website. This has to do with class since we have been using HTML.
The battle for the web
Now that the holidays are coming people will be shopping online more and more. Two companies, Walmart and Amazon are now fighting for those people to shop one their websites and “On Thanksgiving Day, Walmart.com’s reach exceeded that of Amazon.com for the first time this year.” So now Walmart seems to be dominating in all areas. I think this is crazy that one place can have such domination.
A change in HTML
HTML5 is the latest major revision of HTML. There will be many changes including the “reducement of the use of proprietary plug-in-based rich Internet application (RIA) technologies such as Adobe Flash, Microsoft Silverlight, and Sun JavaFX.” It is expected to be a major upgrade, and is expected to be completed by 2012.
This has do do with class as we are now talking and learning how to use HTML.
Another Brick In The Wall
Dell has decided to enter the smartphone business. But not right away in the states. “Dell said it will distribute its first Android handset, the Mini 3, through China Mobile, the largest phone company in the world, with half a billion customers.” I think that with all the smartphones out there I dont really know what this one came up with that is unique to itself. I guess we will wait in see.
Twitter V Facebook
In an article that I read it was talking about facebook and its going up against twitter to be Macs main deal and PC’s main deal. They say that “each are much more than an information network or serendipity engine. Each represent a dashboard for your attention”. I myself dont like twitter becuase I think it is pointless to just follow what someone says. Facebook is much better.
How to know whatsup
I read an article about then ways to evaluate a website. It said First Impressions
Navigation
Content
Attractors
Findability
Making Contact
Browser Compatability
Knowledge of Users
User Satisfaction
Other Useful Information
Then if you wanted ti learn more about a topic you could click them becuase they are links. This relates to class becuase we talked about how to evaluate websites
Windows 7
I looked more into Windows 7 since I am a PC user and I just wanted to find out if it is getting better reviews then when vista came out. According to Wikipedia “Reviews of Windows 7 were mostly positive, praising its usability when compared to its predecessor, Windows Vista. CNet gives Windows 7 Home Premium a rating of 4.5 out of 5 stars,[69] stating that it “is more than what Vista should have been, [and] it’s where Microsoft needed to go”.
That is good news because with all the technolgy they have and the many years they have been doing this you would think they can get it right everynow and then.
This has do with class becuasw we have talked about things changing and getting more advanced with new technolgy and this is a good example.
Outcomes
I saw a page about dynamic and static web pages and their diffrent affects on search engines. I did not relize they had seaperate affects actaully until i saw this. It is actaully a complicated thing and it is hard for me to sit here and explain so you should read about it
This relates to class as we have not only been talk about staic web pages we have also discussed search engines and how they internet affetcs itself.
Too much of a good thing……….
I saw a website that may not directly involve what we have talked about in class but it still is apart of the entire world of what we discuss, like computers and mainly the internet. We have always talked about how it can help you out and what you can learn to do on it but this website talks about becoming addicted. The website says “, “The Internet has properties that for some individuals promote addictive behaviors and pseudo-intimate interpersonal relationships.” Nurse practitioners will soon find themselves faced with the issues of “internet addicts” and their inability to get offline”. I actually think it is crazy that people wont be able to get of the internet and really try to call it a sickness. I know its addicting but if it is that intense then..I dont even know what to say.
